Fnjóská - Illugastaðir (Arctic Char)
Fnjóská is a 117 km clear-water river that rises in Bleiksmýrardrög and is one of the largest clear-water rivers in Iceland. Salmon and sea-run Arctic char are the main species during the fishing season, but brown trout and resident Arctic char are also found in the river.
Illugastaðir, also known as Beat 5, is fished from the boundary marker above Hólmabreiða, pool 68, and upstream to the junction of Bakkaá and Fnjóská, just below the farm Reykir. The marked pools are numbered 69–80. From there, the beat is unmarked up to Bakkaá.
The fishing season runs from 8 July to 31 August. Two rods are sold for full days only, and both rods must be purchased together.
